Podcast Project

Welcome to my new post!
Hello again, today I bring with me a new and spectacular tool: podcast.
Podcast is a way to record and stock audios, not only music, also documentaries, audio-books or radio tracks.

This time, I used https://soundcloud.com/stream; which is a very simple tool to stock audio tracks.

Soundcloud.com is an online platform for audio distribution that allows us to make recordings in the cloud, upload audios, promote them and share them. The audio tracks that we record or upload can be tagged, categorised, shared on social networks and organised into playlists.
In addition, it has the added value of creating groups, so that in our classrooms we can make work teams with our students so that they can broadcast their own radio programs in the cloud, with frequent episodes, for example, on various topics. It is a good option to launch a classroom radio, department, level, or centre.
SoundCloud offers the possibility of taking audios, lists and groups to our own digital spaces, simply copying and pasting the embed code.
The free version offers 3 hours of audios and it will not allow us to create more than one group, which is a restriction for teamwork in the classroom, although we can create different playlists and organise the audios of the students in this way.

Another online tools are:
  • Spreaker: https://www.spreaker.com/ It offers us the possibility of transmitting live with the recording console included in the service, or uploading audio files that we have stored locally. Whether taking advantage of online recording or broadcasting, we can share the creations on social networks or allow others to download them; categorize, describe and label them, as well as organize them into collections. It is necessary to bear in mind that the free version has a limit of 15-minute daily sessions and 5 hours storage, if we upload recordings in local.
  • Ivoox: http://gb.ivoox.com/en/ It is perhaps the most well-known repository, a large audio-kiosk with lots of tracks and audio channels that can be very useful for its reproduction for educational purposes. Previous registration we can upload our own audios, either .mp3 files that we have in local or files that we have stored in the cloud (for example in a virtual hard disk like Dropbox) and whose URL (web address) we know and want to link. If you already have your podcasts hosted in another space, Ivoox also allows you to share them on your platform through their RSS feed.It also has a private area from which we can manage our channels and our collaborators, view statistics of our podcasts and channels; notifications and messages, as well as insert a direct access to our channel in our own blogs, websites, and digital spaces. It provides us unlimited storage and transfer. The basic licence does not include private management.
  • Podomatic: https://www.podomatic.com/ It is a great repository of podcasting, to where, after registration, we can upload audios, share them, divide them into episodes, create series, and embed them in our digital spaces. The free plan is quite wide, with no expiration.

SOOOOO... What have I created?
I created a new project in my school, in Primary Education. I think that it would be very difficult to add Kindergarten because of the language, but I'm thinking how to involve them too.
This project is widely described in this Google Docs.

For that project, I have created a channel in the tool I have mentioned (SoundCloud.com), so feel free to follow me and take some tips from my project! 😊😊

Once I started my project, I wanted to welcome my students and aim them to enrol on this wonderful cooperative activity. So I created my first podcast:

Licencia de Creative Commons
Podcast by Teacher Meili is licensed under a Creative Commons Reconocimiento-NoComercial 4.0 Internacional License.

This podcast will be part of the next playlist: https://soundcloud.com/teacher-meili/sets/radio-school-1

Finally, I want to confess you that create a project like this is a huge responsibility.
At first, you have to aim people to enrol, that it is not easy at the beginning.
Also, you have to think about new ideas if your students are not enough creativity. Because if you don't show interest in this project, students won't do neither.
Moreover, you have to take in consideration that all the articles and podcast have to be engaging for the youngest until the oldest, so it is very complicated.
But, when you check that this activity is appealing for children and they are motivated, you feel complete and happy.
So I really recommend you to try to start a project like this!!

See you!
